Coca-Cola: ‘Zero Sugar Byte,’ Pixel-Flavored Metaverse Drink

Coca-Cola’s Zero Sugar Byte will be the first Coca-Cola flavor built in the metaverse. The pixel-flavored beverage will make its first appearance in the metaverse, before hitting shelves in the U.S. next month.

The Metaverse allows people to exist in a virtual space. The verse can also be accessed via VR goggles. Coca-Cola stated that it has a long-standing connection to gaming, and first entered the metaverse last January with its first-ever non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles.

“Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte will bring the flavour of pixels to life in a limited-edition beverage that transcends the digital and physical worlds,” the company said in a statement. Before its limited retail launch, the drink will be available in the metaverse in the video game “Fortnite”.

Coca-Cola Starlight gave people an opportunity to experience outer space earlier this year.

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte

On April 4th, 2022, the product will be launched in Latin America for the first time. It will be available for American consumers on May 2nd, 2022. It’s also on 23 May 23rd, 2022 for China.

Zero Sugar Byte’s launch brings together two digital experiences. “Pixel Point” is a metaverse-based game that’s available in Fornite Creative. There are four multiplayer mini-games you can participate in here: The Castle (The Escape), The Race and The Tower. You will need to collaborate with other players in order to overcome challenges and climb the tower.

You can also access an AR-game that uses BYTE (an eight-bit pixel that was lost when Coca-Cola Byte entered this metaverse). How do you access it? Simply scan the Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte packaging. Your next task is to help BYTE get back the Coca-Cola logo. You can beat other players’ finishes and share your accomplishments on social media.

If you are curious, Zero Sugar Byte will come in twin packs. The one can is for consumption and the other for collection. Twin packs are limited in quantity so be sure to check the release dates.

Overall, Coca-Cola has been making its presence felt in the metaverse since 2021. On World Friendship Day , the brand launched NFT collectibles. Coca-Cola Starlight was launched in February with an AR concert featuring Ava Max. Coca-Cola isn’t slowing down in its quest to reach the metaverse. The brand will actually launch more flavors this year under its creation hub.
