Dennis Rodman’s sold out his first NFT collection on OpenSea within a matter of hours. At the time of writing this, Dennis Rodman‘s Barbershop had 1,915 mints in the last hour. The NBA Hall-Of-Famer was considered one of, if not the best rebounders in the NBA. The global superstar obtained an incredible 5 NBA championships and dominated the boards from Detroit to San Antonio to Chicago to Los Angeles to Dallas. The five-time champion won three rings in Chicago and three rebounding titles.
During “The Worm’s” historic NBA career, he was said to have had an infinite amount of energy. This, paired with his keen understanding of where to position himself when the shot went up allowed him to become 12th all-time in rebounds per game.
In an interview, Rodman stated that he never played basketball for money, but for the love of the sport.
“I never played the game for money. I played because I wanted to. I loved it.”
For seven straight seasons, nobody else won a rebounding title. In all of NBA history, there are only nine instances in which a player won the rebounding crown by at least four per game. Rodman makes up for four of them as no other NBA has done it more than twice.
Across his seven rebounding titles, Rodman averaged 3.5 more (double of the all-time average gap of 1.7). This is the largest “margin of victory” among rebounding champs.
When Rodman won the first of his back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year awards in 1989-90, Rodman averaged 9.7 rebounds per game when he won his first back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year awards in 1989 to 1990. Two seasons later Rodman was up to 18.7.
“In all of NBA history, there are 46 instances of someone hauling in at least 18 per game. Only two of them have come in the last 46 years. Both by Dennis Rodman.”
According to Sports Cast, Rodman would go to the weight room and work out for an hour and a half after playing an NBA game.
“The guy never gets tired, he was bionic.”
OpenSea hosted a Twitter Spaces event in which Rodman announced his new NFT collection. Rodman said that he is excited to be reinventing himself because people see him as a basketball player, author, and entertainer and now they get to see his artistic side with his NFT project.
“It’s a new Dennis Rodman, baby.”
