CryptoPunk #6046 Declines 9.5 Million Dollar Offer

CryptoPunk #6046 owner refused to sell his NFT despite receiving a record-breaking $9.5million offer. It would have been the biggest on-chain CryptoPunk transaction in USD if it was sold. Richerd, however, rejected the deal because he claimed that the NFT had become his “identity” and the Punk’s own.

“My identity along with identity of other iconic Punks and apes have value beyond the NFT itself… Because I value my personal brand and identity, this was an easy rejection for me.”

$9.5 Million Dollar Offer For CryptoPunk #6046

Richerd’s tweet, “My punk are not for sale” prompted it all. I don’t care what anybody offers me. Poap.eth submitted a bid for the NFT on Larva Labs about 15 hours later.

CryptoPunks is the leader in the NFT space. According to DappRadar, it has amassed approximately $1.5 billion in trading volume. Richerd’s #6046 is adorned with rare traits. Only 3% of CryptoPunks have 3D glasses, but only 442 Punks (4%) are frumpy.

These rare CryptoPunks are selling for millions of Dollars, with auction house Sotheby’s selling an alien Punk for $11.75million in June. Poap.eth’s offer of $9.5 million is therefore not surprising. Richard, however, refused to part ways with his Punk, even though many would have accepted the offer. He believes that his brand, identity, and the NFT space he is building will be more valuable over the long term.

This isn’t the first time that an NFT holder turned down a huge offer for their NFT. Another Diamond hands holder turned down a $1 million offer for their cool cats NFT.
